Makshya is a writer and cook currently living in the Bay Area. She can be found at @processdaily, building a platform that affirms and celebrates the role that women of color play as chefs, potters, and storytellers in our communities. Before shifting to focus on her culinary and creative work, Makshya worked in philanthropy to strengthen regional food systems, pushing for local food infrastructures that create and sustain opportunities for wealth for farmers and workers of color across the food system. She is also a community educator, and has written multiple curriculums empowering young people to engage with their food systems and see themselves as part of their food economies. Makshya graduated from Stanford University, where she studied American Studies and Creative Writing. In April, she plans to start the Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture with the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems in Santa Cruz, CA.
